A’Ibom revenue service sets N46bn target

The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service has set a target of N46bn for the year 2021.

The Chairman of the service, Mr Okon Okon, said these while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo, the state capital. Although he did not disclose the strategy to compel oil firms to pay their taxes to the state, he said the time when oil firms flew into the state oilfields and execute business and escaped without paying their taxes was over.

Okon expressed appreciation to the governor, Udom Emmanuel, and the state House of Assembly for granting full autonomy to the service, adding that sustaining the tempo of the IGR and full autonomy required effective strategy and strategic focus.
