Ahmad Aliyu, governor of Sokoto, has dissolved non-statutory governing boards of government parastatals and agencies in the state.on Monday, signed by Abubakar Bawa, press secretary to the governor, Aliyu noted that the dissolution did not affect statutory boards whose tenures are guaranteed by the constitution of the country or extant laws of the state government.
He also directed that the appointment of the traditional rulers be suspended until the review is concluded.The statement added that the nine-member panel would also interrogate the renaming and relocation of some higher institutions of learning in the state. “The general public may wish to recall that the state executive governor, his excellency, Alh. Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, on the assumption of office, has made the following pronouncements: The renaming of tertiary institutions in the state and other appointments related to their governing councils and their relocations announced recently by the outgoing administration are hereby nullified. All the affected institutions are to revert to their former names and locations,” the statement reads.
