Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has approved the request for supply of fuel to Bakassi fishermen in Cross River.

The Regional Coordinator of NMDPRA, South South, Mr. George Ene-Ita, stated this when the Chairman of Bakassi Council, Mr. Iyadim Iyadim, led a team of fishermen to his office to consider the approval.

He said the state government came up with a policy of prohibiting fuel stations located 25km to the border from lifting petroleum products. The NMDPRA boss said: “The policy is a remedial measure to curb cross border smuggling. In the interim, approval will be given and the NMDPRA regional office will work out the modalities of the approval.
