Adamawa State deputy governor Kaletapwa Farauta has inaugurated a 10-member project coordination committee to contribute to the reduction of maternal deaths

Farauta instructed the committee yesterday to scale up awareness campaigns for screening of cancer among women and girls to ensure zero tolerance to cervical cancer in the state.

She said the committee is to strengthen early referral of reproductive health cases from primary health care to secondary facilities for proper antenatal care, and reiterated government support for the FKW development bank project in improving the quality of life of women and girls. Mr Emmanuel Ajah, the country director, MSI Nigeria, said the RHPR project, would expand the availability, access, acceptability and quality of integrated reproductive health services.

Ajah said MSI Nigeria supported 55 primary health care centres, adding that 60 health facilities would be scaled up in the state.
