The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has clarified that a journalist, Daniel Tyokua, was not arrested or detained, but merely invited for questioning over a petition by his community.

The police command, in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that Tyokua was not arrested or detained, contrary to earlier reports. The Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, cautioned against the peddling of false information, which could damage the image of the police and harm the public.The journalist’s invitation for questioning was in response to a petition by the Tiv community, and he was released after the scheduled interview and interrogation.
