Speaking to newsmen after his arrest, the suspect, Nnamdi, said he sent a text message to his friend around 3AM that he has been kidnapped by six men carrying AK-47 rifles alongside other three students just to see how the friend would react.
Also, a friend of the suspect and 300 level Mass Communication student, Faith Godson, said she received a text message from the suspect that he has been kidnapped. Reacting to the incident, the Chief Security Officer ABSU, Retired Navy Commander ThankGod Evulobi, said they received a distress call that a student has been kidnapped and swung into action only to discover that the supposed victim faked his own kidnap.
