Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, says the federal government should review palliative allocation to the state as it has one of the largest populations in the country.

Yusuf spoke on Thursday while addressing journalists at the weekly executive council meeting held at the Government House in Kano.to ease the hardship of petrol subsidy removal in the state. He said poor and vulnerable residents across 44 LGAs in the state will benefit, adding that the government has procured grains for distribution.The governor said the federal government’s five trucks of rice have arrived in the state, noting that measures are being put in place to ensure the food items get to the vulnerable residents.

“Part of our efforts to assist people in the state in the area of cushioning the effects of subsidy removal, we’ve purchased grains worth 1.6 billion naira from the federal government,” he said. “Some of the items acquired for distribution include millet, maize, and rice while contrary to other states who are going to sell at a subsidized rate, our own is going to be distributed free.”
