9-years imprisonment: Sonia Ekweremadu break silence over parent ordeal

Sonia, daughter of a former Deputy Senate President has reacted to her parents’ ordeal in the United Kingdom.and eight months, while his wife Beatrice and Obinna Obetta got four years and ten years jail terms, respectively.

The sentence became the first of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act, following their conviction for organ trafficking in March, which lasted for six weeks. Prior to the sentence, Ekweremadu, Beatrice and Obeta were convicted of conspiracy to arrange the travel of a young Nigerian man who identified as David Nwamini to Britain in order to exploit him for his kidney.Speaking to BBC on Friday, Sonia said she was devastated, broken and she disagrees with the conviction.

“It’s sad. It’s been really hard to wrap my head around it. I understand the conviction. Personally, I disagree with it; however, that’s from a very biased perspective as their daughter, and I would obviously back my parents.Related Topics:
