The Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, has been petitioned over illegal detention and criminal intimidation of a 72 years old woman, Mrs. Adelesi Esther Omolade, and her family. The petition raised by their Principal Counsel and Executive Director, Sterling Law Centre, Deji Ajare, centred on the illegal detention which was due to an alleged contract breach between her and Rajol Jireh Limited, a company owned by Mrs. Judith Obiajulu Amaechi, wife of the erstwhile Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.

The illegal arrest and detention was said to have been carried out on January 23, 2022, at Dawaki, Abuja by one Assistant Commissioner of Police, Akin Fakorede, who is currently serving at Zone 13 Headquarters, Awka, Anambra State, alongside some other officers. It was learnt that Fakorede had on several occasions threatened to wipe out Mrs. Adelesi's family after forcing them to release their Bank Verification Numbers and other bank details – an action which led to the freezing of their accounts thereby making it difficult for them to carry out any transactions in the account.

“This is a complaint against the activities of one Assistant Commissioner of Police – ACP. AKIN FAKOREDE whose phone number is 08066129607, who is currently serving at Zone 13 Headquarters, Awka, Anambra State, and who, in flagrant abuse of his office, has ganged up with Rajol Jireh Limited and Mrs. Judith Obiajulu Amaechi and gravely wronged me and family by perpetrating the following acts contrary to law.

"At about 7am of the same day, the same officers determined to carry out the illegal and wrongful arrest, stormed my house at Games Village, Kaura District, Abuja, FCT, and proceeded to arrest my mother Mrs. Adelesi Esther Omolade together with me ."
