An inspirational entrepreneur renowned for her passionate commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion has been named University of the West of Scotland’s Chancellor-elect.Yekemi Otaru, a tireless passionate supporter of women in business and an active mentor of business owners in the world’s poorest countries, will formally take up the role of Chancellor at the University of the West of Scotland on 1 September 2021, succeeding Dame Elish Angiolini.
Yekemi said, “I am honoured to have been appointed Chancellor-elect of University of the West of Scotland, following in the footsteps of a remarkable individual in Dame Elish Angiolini. Yekemi is a remarkable example of entrepreneurship and a tremendous role model for our students and wider University community. I am delighted to welcome her to the UWS family.“I would also like to pay tribute to Dame Elish Angiolini, who has been an outstanding Chancellor and ambassador for the University. I am deeply grateful for the committed and inspirational role she has played in our UWS community.
Yekemi’s appointment comes at an exciting time for UWS, and follows last year’s launch of Strategy 2025 – a bold vision laying out the foundations for the University to achieve even greater excellence on the world stage.
Congratulations. Question is why Nigerians must be recognized for brilliance only when they leave the country? Back home, it's always based on nepotism, tribalism not on the ability to perform the job? Country needs a reboot.
But in nigeria they would not even allow a race like that to rule. Some calls them minority, some calls slaves, some calls them losers of war. They said never allow them to rule again, and they still hoping to move forward. Sorry nigeria, sorry Africa.
Congratulations ! In 🇳🇬 She would’ve been killed/kidnapped by MBuhari & his fulani terrorist scoundrel. Do Africa and African to truly arise 🇳🇬 must cease to be. It has outlived its usefulness. Hence you see people in diaspora doing great. oduduwanationnow BiafraNationNow
Aunty abikedabiri biting her fingers now as she can't come on this bird app to congratulate her and claim that the Nigerian spirit in her took her this far...😂😂. Yekemi, congratulations jare. Ur head dey there.
All of you useless people who like to link an individual to Nigeria when they thrive abroad ain't normal people, they didn't get the position because they're Nigerians. Get that into your useless head, they got it because they've done a good job, no need to link them to Nigeria.
Nigerians are doing great in the diaspora and Nigeria government refuse to tap into this and draw back home their citizen to develop the country.
Nice
