gathered that the student, identified as Uzakah Ebiweni, dived into the Amassoma River and drowned before he could get help.
He was said to be among the students disqualified by the institution after their results were released on Friday. The Public Relations Officer, NDU, Ndoni Ingezi, who also confirmed the incident, told our correspondent that Ebiweni’s body had been recovered and deposited in the Sabageria hospital mortuary.
“But Ebiweni and 21 others failed beyond the level that they could be placed on academic probation for another academic year; so, they had to be withdrawn. So, in our usual practice, we did not break the news to the students until they had been invited for counselling.

Haaaaa, dat shouldn't be now.
Why want is all dis nigeria don to suicide.
Why wouldn't he commit suicide when his too small to be in school. University education is not for teens but for mature men.he's not developed psychologically.
Sad, in a country where unemployment rate is over 30%.😏
Wasted effort and hell fire
Question is...what has this promising young man been subjected to? We need to address the rising rate of suicide amongst youths. Medical school on it's own can truly be challenging but how about having counselors&mental health doctors attached to every institution?WeCantBeSilent
Parents stop frustrating your kids, stop pushing them
Medical student should not fail out of the university they should be giving options of another course it was practiced before it has to come back.
No exams in the grave
another bad news .
It height time parents change their behavior towards their children when it comes to education, haba...education is not the qualification to be successful in life
Too bad !
I hope Nigerians are not doing Suicide challenge? For failing exam? God help us o
This suicide isn't normal not even depression but na demon from God's know where they enter people head..they go begin act like fools... This calls 4 serious prayers... Hmmmm..
So sad....
nawa oo. Everyday someone dies!!
This is turning to a trend ,this needs to stop
One youth who is not lazy just did the unthinkable! But why? I know a lot miserable medical doctors who are Looking for other things to do, just about any other thing but practice medicine. These kids needs to be mentored.
People easily conclude when ungrateful one's took there lives, bad is bad, no pressure can make one took his or her life, na dem create am, they are just unjust, they don't believe God exist. Shikenan
AGAIN
We'll never wake-up to good news in this country, why?
So sad that these are happening. Solutions are need alot of people are depress.SayNoToSuicide
Pathetic... He Is still very young
Frustration and pressure from schools lecturer’s parents on a daily basis leads to things like this poor boy probably felt he was a failure after failing that exam most Nigerian lecturers see themselves as gods and do what ever they please To forgetting nothing lasts forever
🤐🤐🤐😭😭😭😭... GOD HAVE MERCY ON US.. SUICIDE EVERYDAY
So sad Must have been pressure from parents Nigerians needs to stop seeing college degrees as D only channel to success in life no it’s not and it’s becoming clear talent this days is beating college degrees We wa we go the skull finish Wetin we don use am achieve🤷🏼♂️ RIP to him
Trend from beyond
Pressure from all axis...
Mehn such wll never cure Letitnothappenagain
The youths are experiencing Too many frustrations in schools this days, and it's really compelling one to end it all. I knew how often I have struggle with the thought of suicidal. Thank God I overcome them.
A collegue of his that happens to be my friend Studying the same course in the University in Bayelsa said he had received call threats from his dad at home. But don't know how true.
Becoming a medical Doctor is not a do or die affair, neither a tertiary degree a give away ticket to a successful life, students of nowadays generally need a better orientation. I think there's more to all these students suicidal thoughts and actions than just failing an exam...
May be he was mentally ill & couldn't be detected by his caretakers. It's so unfortunate. SayNotoSuicide
God for bid
And then?
Jeez! Haba this suicide stuff everywhere 😢😢 RIP
The rate of suicide among students is alarming. Something drastic has to be done.
