Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) has urged political parties in the country to engage in issue-based campaigns.

The body said this became necessary as the parties are preparing to kick-off campaigns in a few days’ time.

Speaking on behalf of the body, its President, Akin Oyegbola, a surveyor, who touched on several issues facing the country, urged political parties to avoid politics of bitterness and hate speechesThe association’s president also urged the government not to abandon governance for politics, as such would hurt the development of the nation.

Oyegbola said, “The year 2022 precedes the 2023 election year and political activities are back with us. We have high hopes that campaigns which are about to begin will be devoid of hate speeches and language that may heat up the polity.
