The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has said only 678, 324 votes were cast out of over six million registered voters during the local government elections held in the state

The Chairman of LASIEC, Justice Ayotunde Phillips disclosed this on Thursday during a post-election media parley at the commission’s office in Yaba. She said, “The turnout of voters was very poor as the total number of votes cast was 678, 324 out of over six million registered voters. This represents about 10.3 per cent of eligible voters in Lagos State.

“The Commission will continue to intensify its voter education strategy to better improve on these numbers in subsequent elections.”“Twenty LGA election petitions were filed before the two tribunals and they have all been disposed of by the tribunals. “Out of the 20 cases filed, the four filed by Young Progressives Party were withdrawn and were accordingly dismissed by the tribunal.
