Due to anticipated winter weather, the Alabama High School Athletic Association has rescheduled the Regional Bowling Championships and the Wrestling Duals Championships. Local teams, including the Dothan High bowling teams and the Enterprise boys wrestling team, will now compete at a later date.
Several local high school teams will have to postpone their journeys to the Regional Bowling Championships and the Wrestling Duals Championships due to anticipated winter weather sweeping across Alabama. The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) has made the decision to reschedule both events. The bowling tournament, featuring the Dothan High boys and girls teams, was originally slated for Thursday and Friday in Vestavia.
The South Region championships will now be held next Monday and Tuesday (January 27-28) at the Vestavia Bowl in Vestavia Hills. The Dothan girls are scheduled to face Opelika in the opening round on Monday at 9 a.m., while the Dothan boys will take on Prattville at 2 p.m. The State Bowling Championships, originally planned for the Bowlero Bowling Center in Mobile from January 30-31, have also been moved to the following week. It will now be held Monday and Tuesday, February 3-4, at the Bowlero Bowling Center. The wrestling semifinals, featuring the Enterprise boys wrestling team, were originally set for Friday at the CrossPlex Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham. They will now take place on Saturday at the same location. Enterprise is scheduled to face Huntsville in the semifinals at 9 a.m., alongside Daphne competing against Vestavia in the other semifinal. The finals will also be held on Saturday following the semifinals. Notably, all original times for both events remain unchanged.
