The decision was prompted by Diesel's sister, Jordana, who suggested filming in LA as a way to help the local economy. Diesel confirmed that this will mark a return to the franchise's roots, as 'Fast and Furious' began filming in Los Angeles 25 years ago.

“Last week, during the fires that displaced LA, my sister Jordana reached out to me and said Please have Universal film the rest of Fast X Part 2 in LA,” said Diesel in his post. “Los Angeles needs it now more than ever. Los Angeles is where Fast and Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home. All love…”was initially going to kick off a new trilogy of Fast and Furious films, Diesel confirmed in February 2024 that Fast X Part 2 will be a “grand finale.
There have been reports that Fast X Part 2 may be a “throwback” to the original Fast and Furious movie and that it could feature a different villain rather than Jason Momoa’s Dante, though the exact nature of the plot remains unclear at this time. Fast X was released in United States theaters in May 2023. It made approximately $714 million at the global box office off an estimated $378.8 million budget.
