Los Angeles is battling three fast-moving wildfires fueled by strong Santa Ana winds. The largest, the Pacific Palisades fire, has already burned through almost 3,000 acres. The Eaton Fire has destroyed 1,000 acres and the Hurst Fire has affected 500 acres.\Fire Captain Robert Foxworthy urged residents in the path of the flames to evacuate immediately, warning that the fire is incredibly fast-moving and unpredictable.
'By the time you realize it, you're stuck — especially the way this fire is burning, throwing embers out ahead,' he said. 'It can actually throw spot fires and start fires on the other side of you, and you can be surrounded by fire.' \The Pacific Palisades fire sparked around 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning in the Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood nestled between the Santa Monica mountains and the Pacific Ocean. It quickly exploded to nearly 3,000 acres, sparking evacuations for at least 30,000 people. The Eaton Fire sparked around 6:30 p.m. in Pasadena, and grew to 1,000 acres in size. Mandatory evacuations are in place for areas north of the 210 freeway from Roxford to the Interstate 5/14 freeway split. The Hurst Fire is also threatening homes in the Angeles National Forest. \A smoke advisory is in force around much of the Malibu Coast, stretching all the way down to Santa Monica and covering the Beverly Hills. The northeasterly winds are actively pushing the smoke from the fires southwest toward Malibu, forecasting the PM2.5 levels in the air to remain in the Unhealthy category on Air Quality Index
