The annual H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting the day after Thanksgiving is one way to kick off the holiday season in downtown San Antonio.
San Antonio will catapult itself into the heart of Christmas and holiday spirit the day after Thanksgiving, as parts of the city transform into twinkling wintertime landscapes. First up is Travis Park , where the annual H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting will delight revelers Nov. 29 as the light switch is flipped on the nearly 50-foot-tall Christmas tree. Attendees can hitch a free ride to the holiday classic on any VIA Metropolitan Transit mainline bus, VIA link or VIA trans service.
Fraggle Rock headed to San Antonio for one-night magical show The free event begins at 4 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, food trucks and holiday crafts. Around 6 p.m., the giant Christmas tree will light up the park, followed by a screening of 'Home Alone 2' at 7 p.m. For over 40 years, the grocery store giant donates a towering Christmas tree decorated with thousands of lights. The annual tree lighting has become a holiday tradition for many San Antonio families.

Around the same time that the Christmas tree radiates its warm glow over Travis Park, 32 intricately decorated floats will begin their journey down the Riverwalk for the 43rd annual Ford Holiday River Parade. Starting at the river's intersection with Lexington Avenue around 6 p.m., the parade floats will glide by more than 100,000 holiday lights snaking along the waterfront, illuminating Santa Claus and Mrs.
