Kirsti Dunn, a volunteer from North Ogden, Utah, is on the front lines of Hurricane Helene, assisting with Red Cross relief efforts in Tallahassee. Dunn and other volunteers are preparing shelters for evacuees as the storm approaches.

The St. Pete Pier is pictured among high winds and waves as Hurricane Helene makes its way toward the Florida panhandle, passing west of Tampa Bay, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Currently stationed in a staff shelter near the evacuee centers, Dunn is no stranger to disaster relief. She had just returned to Utah from a two-week deployment in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, following Hurricane Francine, before heading back into the field for Hurricane Helene. This commitment to service is shared by many Utah volunteers, including Benjamin Donner, Executive Director of the Utah Red Cross.
