Local volunteers from San Antonio are getting ready to be sent to Florida as Hurricane Helene approaches. Fourteen volunteers are on standby, with two already on the ground, preparing for potential damage and assisting those affected by the storm.
In anticipation of Hurricane Helene , local volunteers are preparing to be sent to Florida in the event of severe damage. Red Cross , volunteers were preparing trucks to possibly be deployed to Florida . 14 volunteers are on standby, with two already on the ground from San Antonio in the path of Hurricane Helene .
"Right now they're just toning up their skills, checking their vehicles and equipment. Getting everything ready, getting their assignments, so as soon as it hits and they start moving people in, they know where they're going to go," says McNell. After the storm they will help those affected, handing out much-needed supplies. We got a close-up look at the supplies the Red Cross will distribute.
"Each of these sets will support 100 people. If we need to support more people we can just add more sets. And they include a manager kit that has administrative items, plus a lot of things like tissues, just basic stuff," says Radmann.
