) - FOX10 News has received new information about the Baldwin County Department of Human Resources. FOX10 News requested staffing and caseload numbers for the Baldwin County DHR office.
Of a total of 65 employees at Baldwin County DHR, 12 currently work on child abuse/neglect investigations. Between July 2023 and June 2024, Baldwin County DHR received 760 reports of child abuse or neglect. As of July 15, there are 147 ongoing DHR child abuse or neglect investigations. For comparison, we’ve requested the same staffing and caseload numbers for Mobile County as well as other counties similar in size to Baldwin County.
We’ve been asking questions ever since a child abuse investigation by the Robertsdale Police Department revealed apparent shortfalls within the Baldwin County DHR office. It was during a child abuse investigation that a Robertsdale PD detective said he’d learned that four prior cases of suspected abuse against the same victim had beenthis week to discuss the challenges faced by the department and what can be done about it. Future meetings are already being planned to work toward solutions.
