Anchorage could see highs top out at 60 for only the 3rd time this yearANCHORAGE, Alaska - As forecast, sunshine has returned to much ofWhile some cloud coverage is still evident, expect a gradual decrease in clouds everywhere but coastal regions. Anchorage has only managed to top out at 60 degrees twice this season, both days occurred last weekend. As May draws to a close and June arrives, several more opportunities for 60s will be in the forecast.
It’s highly likely that inland areas of Southcentral will warm between 55 and 65 degrees, while coastal regions warm anywhere from 50 to 55 degrees. While this is seasonal for some areas of Southcentral, the overall weather pattern continues to favor cooler conditions. Even with that said, both today and tomorrow will provide some sunshine, with clouds beginning to thicken towards the latter half of Friday.
This comes ahead of the next system which will lead to coastal rain and overcast skies for Southcentral. While most of the rain through the weekend will favor the coast, inland areas could be dodging a few showers. Even with the clouds, temperatures should still warm into the 50s and 60s.is once again gearing up for an extended stretch of wetter and cooler weather. While rain is sparse in coverage today, expect an uptick in activity through the weekend.
Looking ahead to the first half of June, a wetter and cooler weather pattern looks to take hold across the state. While no widespread rain looks likely anytime soon for Anchorage, by Wednesday, there are signs that an easterly wave could move across Southcentral leading to the return to wetter conditions.
