Steelers wide receiver George Pickens and Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II both avoided fines following their Week 12 fight.
George Pickens said repeatedly during his media session Friday he was just there so he wouldn’t get finedThe incident happened on the Steelers last-gasp Hail Mary during the Browns’ 24-19 Thursday night win at Huntington Bank Field. Pickens and Newsome rode each other out of bounds and into the barrier between fans and the field on the play.
There were four fines handed out as a result of plays in the game, including to Browns safety Grant Delpit, who was fined $11,255 for his taunting penalty when he ripped Pickens' mouthpiece off and threw it. Browns linebacker Jordan Hicks was fined $10,378 for a roughing the passer penalty with 10:10 left in the fourth quarter.
Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson was fined $22,511 for unnecessary roughness on a play with 5:28 left in the fourth while safety Damontae Kazee was fined $11,255 for a late hit in the first quarter. As for the scuffle between Newsome and Pickens and the verbal fisticuffs that ensued, that will take center stage again in the coming week.
