Mercury-nominated rapper slowthai has announced he is returning to his hometown of Northampton for a one-off gig as part of his upcoming tour. Not only is it being held in an unassuming local pub, tickets will only cost fans £1.
The 28-year-old, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, announced his upcoming UK pub tour for his new album Ugly, on Thursday . He said: "The time has come again to do a pub tour" and that he would be playing the Black Prince on March 3. The £1 tour of six UK pubs follows on from slowthai's 2019 tour, where tickets cost only 99p. Announcing the tour on Twitter, the rapper said the price had been "inflated".slowthai was born and raised in the Lings area of Northampton Town Centre, where he attended Northampton Academy and Northampton College. His breakout 2019 album, Nothing Great About Great Britain, was nominated in the prestigious Mercury Awards.
He said the upcoming tour of his new album UGLY "will be with a full band in an intimate environment and you can hear the new album as it's meant to be" in a video from Australia. "They are no longer 99p, it's £1, it's inflated," he added. Fans must pre-order the new album for early access to tickets.The Black Prince on Abington Street has a reputation for welcoming up-and-coming artists and bands.
