So, does that mean there will be a true starter who will be the only quarterback to play all game? Tomlin is not saying that for sure, as Justin Fields' legs are a weapon for the Steelers on every play. "Certainly, there’s a scenario. That could have been a scenario where that could have occurred last week," Tomlin said about both quarterbacks playing. “You know, I probably hadn’t thought about it in that way, as you stated it, but really, we’re just going to roll the ball out, let both guys work and make decisions from there."
Not only does that imply that Fields and Wilson could play to try and counteract one another’s weaknesses, but Tomlin implies that he could have benched Fields at a point against the Raiders before the game got blown wide open. A team rarely executes a switch like this in the middle of the season at quarterback without serious trouble. The Steelers have not run into that yet, as Fielsd has given them competent quarterback play to get them to 4-2.
