PBAPP cautions Penangites to reduce water usage by 10%

State water authority warns residents to reduce water usage following dip in water levels.

: The Penang Water Supply Corporation has urged all residents in the state to reduce their water consumption by 10 per cent with immediate effect.

He further pointed out the Sungai Muda water levels from Thursday to Sunday were estimated between 1.71 meters to 1.89 m, which is below the safe level of 2.0 m for water abstraction at the Lahar Tiang Intake in Seberang Perai. He further explained that PBAPP staff will be on standby to release a maximum of 600 MLD of water from the now-expanded Mengkuang Dam, should there be insufficient amounts of water abstracted from Sungai Muda.
