Opinion: I have loved lowrider cars since I won my first car hop at age 15 [Opinion]
I’m 63 years old, and I’m proud to be Hispanic and a female lowrider. My interest in lowriding goes way back to 1975.
Prior to the competition, there’s always a lot of verbal insults that go back and forth between the two opponents. My brother got tired of the guy talking, so he told him, “I’m going to let my little sister hop my car and she’s going to beat you.” Before I got my lowrider, I got my husband’s car in 2006, a 1940 Buick Special. A few years later, my husband got me my 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe. I was happy and proud to finally have my own lowrider.
I contacted the president and he invited both my husband and I to the next meeting. From that very first meeting we attended, I felt very welcomed by all the club members.
