At the 2020 Summer Olympics, she earned two gold medals and two silver medals, making her the most decorated U.S.
Ledecky qualified for the Olympic team a second time with wins in the 200-, 400- and 800-meter freestyles at the U.S. Olympic Trials. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she helped the U.S. team secure silver in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay alongside teammates, and in the 2016-2017 season, she set 12 NCAA records and nine American records as a freshman.
Ledecky made her debut as a professional swimmer in May at the TYR Pro Swim Series. She beat her old 1500-meter freestyle world record by five seconds with a time of 15:20.48. In July, she qualified for the Pan Pacific Championships with wins in the 200-, 400- and 800-meter freestyles. At the competition in Tokyo, Ledecky won gold in the 400-, 800- and 1500-meter freestyles. She also took home silver in the 4x200-meter freestyle and bronze in the 200-meter freestyle.
