As a part of a plan to continue to revitalize and beautify downtown Conroe, utilities in three downtown alleys will be buried and brick pavers placed along the walkways with colorful artwork.
The areas marked in red show the three alleys where the work will be done.
The third alley runs north and south from Metcalf Street to Simonton Street to the left of the old State Hotel building at North Thompson and Metcalf streets. Bogert said he has spoken with Conroe Industrial Development Corp. officials who indicated they may help provide some funding for the project. As a part of the plan to boost downtown business, retail opportunities will be planned within the alleys and the water, sewer and drainage system will be upgraded and phone and fiber optic lines buried.
