The Conroe ISD board will consider whether it will remove the novel “Ramona Blue” from library shelves during a hearing Tuesday night.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Conroe ISD Administration Building, 3205 W. Davis St.

Carrie Galatas, general counsel for CISD, said “The Perks of Being a Wallflower," written by Stephen Chbocky and published in 1999, was brought to the committee by a parent in May. The book, she said, was part of the end-of-year curriculum for a district high school and the parent objected to her child reading it.

The board of trustees has remained split on whether it is the district’s responsibility to remove or ban books or if that should be left to parents.
