Authorities are currently looking for two men they say set a home on fire with a house-sitter inside before firing a gun at a neighboring home.The crimes happened on Oct. 4 at around 12:45 a.m., according to a press release from Northern York County Regional Police on Wednesday.
A woman, who was watching a house on the 4700 block of Carlisle Road, reported that the homeowner's dog woke her up just in time for her to see the fire on the first floor of the house.Officers later spoke with the 38-year-old owner of the house who told them he had recently ended a relationship on bad terms with a woman who started dating 31-year-old Nicholas Burtner.
The police report stated that both Burther and another man, 28-year-old Jacob Adams, had moved into the woman's Mechanicsburg home. Further investigation revealed that Burtner and Adams set the man's home ablaze as a "twisted sense of justice". Officials have not yet determined if the shooting of the neighbor's home was intentional or accidental.
