The shooting came hours after a man died in a barrage of gunfire Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of a Birmingham apartment complex.
Published: Nov. 21, 2024, 8:03 p.m.A double homicide investigation is underway after Birmingham police found two men shot to death at an abandoned house Thursday night in Inglenook.East Precinct officers responded to a shots fired call around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 4400 block of 41st Place North, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
Officers went to the back area of an abandoned house where they found a man shot and lying unresponsive in the driveway.Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced both victims dead.Responding officers discovered a fourth man walking in the area and detained him as well, Fitzgerald said.“Right now, we are unsure of who is who – whether the victims were originally suspects; did the victims fire shots?” said Fitzgerald.
Birmingham has now had 144 homicides this year. Of those, 10 have been ruled justifiable and aren’t deemed criminal.Birmingham ended 2022 with 144 homicides, marking the deadliest year in recent Birmingham history.
