Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that 12-year-old Carlos Fernandez was sleeping in his bedroom with two other children when they said Terry Bryan Rivera walked up the bedroom window and opened fire.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Terry Bryan Rivera was charged Wednesday with capital murder after Carlos Fernandez was shot early Monday morning. Investigators say that Rivera dated the boy's mother. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that Fernandez was sleeping in his bedroom with two other children when they said Rivera walked up the bedroom window and opened fire."Anytime it involves a child, it just hurts a little bit more. It's just heartbreaking thinking this child should be getting ready for school very soon, and unfortunately, that's not going to happen," Sheriff Gonzalezreporters.
"All because he couldn't have her," Grace Gonzales, Carlos' great-aunt said. "So he took the next best thing from her, which was her son. Her pride and joy."Carlos was a student at Dr. Gerald D. Cobb Sixth Grade campus.
