DeSoto police fatally shot a man early Sunday who officers said had a gun and threatened to shoot them.
Shortly after 4 a.m., officers were called to the 1100 block of Greenbriar Drive on reports of a man with a small child and two women walking through front and back yards and knocking on doors, according to a DeSoto police news release.When officers arrived, the man was holding the child and had a handgun. He threatened to shoot the officers and the group fled into a creek when officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, according to the release.
The officer who shot the suspect has been placed on administrative leave as part of a standard investigation.
