ComingSoon is excited to debut “Build Up To Olympic/Final Round” from The Fire Inside —Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Tamar-kali.
Tamar-kali is a Brooklyn based artist that debuted as a film composer with her work on the Oscar-nominated Mudbound in 2017. She’s since worked on projects like Josephine Decker’s Shirley, a digital short titled We Hold These Truths for the LA Opera, and Shirley Chisholm, the John Ridley Biopic.
“In composing the score for The Fire Inside, I sought to strike a balance in its support of Claressa Shield’s transformative journey and the rhythmic and percussive nature of the ‘sweet science’ of boxing,” said Tamar-kali in a statement on the score.
Check out the track “Build Up To Olympic Final/Final Round” by Tamar-kali from The Fire Inside soundtrack below: The Fire Inside is directed by Academy Award nominee Rachel Morris from a script written by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins. The film stars Ryan Destiny, Brian Tyree Henry, Oluniké Adeliyi, and De’Adre Aziza.
“The film is the inspirational true story of Claressa Shields, arguably the greatest female boxer of all time,” reads the synopsis. “Claressa, a high school Junior from Flint, Michigan, aided by her tough-love coach, Jason Crutchfield, pushes past all limitations to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing. But even at the pinnacle of success, Claressa has to reckon with the fact that not all dreams are created equal, and the real fight has only just begun.
