A warming center has been established at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newark to provide shelter and support for individuals facing the cold.
The Licking County Emergency Warming Center Task Force has announced the opening of a warming center to provide shelter for individuals seeking refuge from the cold. The center will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 592 West Main Street in Newark . The warming center will operate during the following hours: Thursday (1/9/25) from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Friday (1/10/25) will provide evening meals and breakfast daily for those utilizing the warming center .
Free transportation to the center will be offered. A van will make evening loops from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, stopping at locations including the Salvation Army on East Main Street, Ohio Street/South 2nd Street, Courthouse Square near Licking County Foundation, Licking County Library, and the Women’s Center on West Main Street. Morning transportation will follow the same route. The task force, in collaboration with other local agencies and organizations, aims to ensure that individuals have access to a warm and safe place during extremely cold days or nights throughout the winter
