Letters to the Editor

Readers hope the State Fair ban on guns holds up; urge supporting SNAP; look at why pastors go astray; disagree with eliminating taxes; and urge more regulation of THC policies.

This opinion column is full of excuses and even seems to apologize for the immoral acts that these pastors have committed.Olasky compares megachurches to Hollywood, and this is probably appropriate. Those pastors are like movie stars, and, as he said, Hollywood “is historically full of those who receive adulation and then commit adultery.”

State Rep. Brian Harrison and Vance Ginn are irresponsible when they say that we can eliminate property taxes without raising taxes elsewhere or drastically cutting spending and/or services. I’m sure Harrison and Ginn are busy working on that with their “concepts.” However, this is another step to reach the apparent dream of Republicans in the Legislature: to destroy public education.
