Letters to the Editor
Readers love our positive columns and news stories; agree with the column about truth; hope parents stress the evils of bullying; point out how many women don’t support abortion; and agree with editorial about banning guns at the State Fair.
What a reflective essay by Johnson. He writes that a lie and a liar are totally opposite of God’s truth and God’s character, and that our nation must relearn the danger of lies in both church and politics. He fears “that our country is being led to a place … where we will receive the repercussions of allowing lies to shape our reality and form a hatred in our hearts for each other.”
How many children will read or even hear anything close to his wisdom? Or will they learn more by watching the bullying and denigration orchestrated by one presidential candidate? What do we teach our children when he never seems to be held accountable for his bad behavior on the world stage? “Teach your children well,” as Graham Nash said.I have read these letters religiously for decades. Burrus’ letter is one of the best I have ever read.
