The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office initially ruled his cause of death couldn’t be determined. But after a review of body-camera footage, his autopsy report was amended to rule the death a homicide. Medical examiners said he died of sudden cardiac arrest after law enforcement physically restrained him in a “semi-prone position.”to indict the officers involved. Internal police documents shared by the attorney, Geoff Henley, named seven officers who had contact with Knotts at the hospital.

The autopsy report said Knotts had THC, which is found in marijuana, in his system. He also had Narcan, a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. He did not have any opioids in his system, according to the report. He was 5-5 and 212 pounds.she was unaware her son’s death had been ruled a homicide until a reporter told her.
