José Ramírez and Steven Kwan are among finalists for starting spots on the American League roster in next month's All-Star Game.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — José Ramírez and Steven Kwan are one big step away in their quests to start at the All-Star Game in Texas next month. Now it’s up to the voters.
Kwan is trying to become the first Cleveland outfielder elected to start since Juan Gonzalez in 2001. He is batting .377 with a .988 OPS and has more three-hit games than any player in baseball. Santander is tied for third in the AL with 21 home runs while Tucker has not played since June 7 after suffering a shin contusion. With Soto garnering the second-most votes behind Judge in Phase 1 and Tucker a non-factor, it appears Kwan is in direct competition with Santander for the final starting spot.
