Oscar-winning actor and comedian Jamie Foxx is opening up for the first time in his new stand-up special on Netflix about his mysterious health scare. NBC’s Liz Kreutz reports for TODAY.
When Jamie Foxx experienced “a bad headache,” on April 11, 2023, he visited a doctor who didn’t take his symptoms seriously, giving him a shot of cortisone and sending him on his way, he shared during his stand-up special “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…” “I don’t know if you can do Yelps for doctors,” he said in his special. “That’s half a star.” Luckily, Foxx’s sister, Deidra Dixon, knew something was wrong with her brother and took him to another hospital.
“We heard the story too often where someone had a really bad headache … and didn’t have any other symptoms … and unfortunately they wait because they think, ‘Oh, maybe it’s just a bad headache, a bad migraine,” Hussain said. “Then a day or two later, the aneurysm fully ruptures, you have the mask of bleeding around the brain, and it can be quite devastating.” In Foxx’s case, his sister’s determination likely made a difference in his outcome.
