Late week front will bring rain to northwest Alabama by Halloween, diminishing in coverage as it moves southeast across the state.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The warm and dry weather looks to carry on as we move towards the end of the month. As for rain chances, an approaching cold front will bring wet weather to parts of northwest Alabama, leaving our area mostly dry.
That would make October 2024 the driest month we’ve experienced since October of 1978 and the fourth-driest month on record at Montgomery. The driest month was October 1904; it remains the only month that Montgomery measured NO rain whatsoever! A front approaches the state from the west on Thursday into Thursday night. The best data we have now suggest this front will bring rain to parts of northwest Alabama, but stops *just* before reaching us. Hopefully it will move slightly farther southeast than expected. If it does, our chance of rain could increase on Halloween, for parts of the region.
The first weekend in November will also remain mainly dry and warm. With highs in the 80s, lows in the 50s and 60s and a few clouds around during the day and night.
