Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine will likely become Helene today, with a track toward the Big Bend of Florida by Thursday.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - More heat and humidity is expected as we move through Tuesday. The weather pattern shifts mid to late week, as we are tracking two systems. The first a cold front that will increase rain and storm chances Wednesday, followed by Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, which will increase wind and rain potential across parts of Alabama Thursday into the day Friday.
A front will slide into the region on Wednesday and stall. That front, along with tropical moisture, will increase rain and storm chances across the region. Highs will only warm into the 80s with plenty of clouds around. Winds will be out of the southeast around 5 to 10 mph and lows will hover around 70 degrees with showers likely.
Parts of the “cone of concern” has east Alabama highlighted with potential impacts from future Helene. Expect waves of showers and storms as the probable Hurricane moves ashore along the Florida Gulf Coast late Thursday. The forecast track for future Helene will continue to change, as this will be a quick moving system between now and Thursday. Check back with the First Alert Weather team for the latest adjustments and potential threats as we move closer to landfall.
