Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander has taken a stunning photo of Earth, showcasing Australia and the surrounding region as it journeys towards the moon. The image, shared on X, was captured soon after Blue Ghost left Earth orbit and began its four-day transit to lunar orbit. The mission, launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, aims to support future human exploration of the moon as part of NASA's Artemis program.

Firefly launched Blue Ghost on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on January 15. Measuring about 2 meters in height and 3.5 meters across, the Blue Ghost lander will deploy 10 scientific investigations and technology demonstrations geared toward supporting future human exploration of the moon as part of the Artemis program.

The mission has a number of objectives, including studying lunar regolith, testing new technologies for future missions, and conducting various scientific experiments, including observing Earth’s magnetic field from the moon.
