WASHINGTON – Prison officials in the Lompoc, California facility failed to isolate and test symptomatic prisoners and allowed staffers to show up for work despite having symptoms, contributing to a surge in coronavirus cases in one of the hardest-hit facilities in the federal prison system.

More than 900 inmates have tested positive as of May, the report says. To date, two Lompoc prisoners have died.
