La portavoz del Pentágono Sabrina Singh evitó este martes hacer comentarios sobre el bombardeo israelí de un hospital en Gaza que habría dejado más de 500 muertos.
En una rueda de prensa, dijo que no puede dar por ahora una opinión al respecto porque desconoce 'quién es el responsable' del ataque y todavía no se tienen 'todos los detalles' de lo ocurrido. La portavoz del Departamento de Defensa estadounidense expresó su confianza en que Israel está cumpliendo la legislación internacional en la guerra con el grupo islamista palestino Hamás y le prometió toda la ayuda necesaria de Estados Unidos.
Singh comparó el ataque del brazo armado de Hamás contra Israel del 7 de octubre con los atentados del 11 de septiembre de 2001 en Estados Unidos, y recalcó que Israel tiene 'el derecho a defenderse de los terroristas'. Además, sobre las muertes de civiles en Gaza por los bombardeos israelíes sostuvo que es Hamás quien pone a los palestinos 'en riesgo'.
