Israel evacuated citizens from 20 communities in the north, Lt. Col.
Jonathan Conricus, an Israel Defense Forces spokesman, said Tuesday, adding that the measure was taken “in order to have civilians out of the battlefield.” The IDF announced plans Monday to evacuate a total of 28 communities within about 1.2 miles of the country’s border with Lebanon.
