Descanso Gardens' Descanso Railroad welcomes a new installation, 'Road Trip Across America,' featuring whimsical roadside attractions alongside its beloved miniature trains.
A new installation, ' Road Trip Across America ,' opened at the Descanso Railroad on Valentine's Weekend 2025. Located just inside the front gate of the La Cañada Flintridge garden, the exhibit is included with admission or membership. While the train ride is a favorite among children, the miniature trains that charmingly chug around the leafy area, moving in loops and overhead, are a mesmerizing sight for all.
The Descanso Railroad, like the real-world places that life-sized trains pass, is constantly evolving. While the little locomotives continue their journeys, they now navigate past a few fresh and fun roadside attractions. These sculptures, created by Applied Imagination, feature a Coney Island vernacular building shaped like a hot dog and bun, and a tribute to The World's Largest Basket in Ohio. The first of 35,000 tulips will soon blossom in the Promenade area of the garden, with peak bloom anticipated around late March
