Eleven guns and thousands of drugs were found Tuesday when police arrested a man suspected of shooting into his Dauphin County home, police said in court documents.
A witness told Pennsylvania State Police she heard four gunshots coming from behind Bates’ Chestnut Street home, then saw the 31-year-old appear holding a black rifle with a scope attached, court documents said. The witness, who worked in a nearby building, said she heard three more shots after she went back to her job, according to the affidavit. The witness said she recognized Bates as the home’s resident but did not know him by name.
Bates told responding troopers that he’d fired shots into the air that morning and one shot into the front of his home before stowing the rifle in a Nissan sedan on the property next to his house, court documents said. Police said they later found an AR-style weapon in the Nissan.
