The heat has reached 'dangerous' levels in parts of the eastern U.S.
"Periods of high heat and humidity can cause medical problems such as heat exhaustion and stroke."It's July and it's supposed to be hot – but the heat has reached"dangerous" levels in parts of the eastern U.S.
This is the temperature that it feels like when humidity is factored in. Nearly 70 million people, mostly along the East Coast, live where heat alerts were in effect on Monday, according to the weather service. The weather service also said that"heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Stay hydrated!"
Some good news: A cold front sweeping through the Northeast late Monday will usher slightly cooler and less humid conditions across the region, but the front is forecast to stall over the northern Mid-Atlantic, keeping hazy, hot and humid conditions around into Tuesday from the Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast, the weather service said.
