Courteney Cox is returning to the Scream franchise for the seventh installment. The film will also star Neve Campbell and will be directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson.
According to a report from Variety, Cox has signed onto return in the franchise, bringing back both Cox and Neve Campbell , who signed onto the project earlier this year. The seventh installment will be directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson from a screenplay written by Guy Busick. It is produced by Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt. Information about the upcoming movie is being kept under wraps as of now, but Cox will join a cast that continues to grow.
Alongside her and Campbell, Scream 7’s development has been rocky. The path to Scream 7 has been a bit of a rocky one. Earlier this year, Spyglass Media Group fired Melissa Barrera from the franchise for speaking out against the Israel and Palestine conflict. Speaking to “It’s definitely hard, because I was just in such a cloudy state of mind, but I was very fortunate,” said Barrera. “I had a lot of support from the people around me: my team and specifically my publicists — they just carried me.” before Christopher Landon announced he’d no longer be directing the film in December 2023. As a result, the upcoming project will be directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream and its sequel.
